On Saturday, May 27, 2023, the Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) held its 50th annual general meeting at the Aongza Ki. All six tribal bodies attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Shri Longdiba Sangtam, SDO (C), Mokokchung, encouraged the ENPUM members in attendance with an exhortation. He recalled how the parents incepted the ENPUM with a great objective in a district belonging to a pioneering tribe.
He also posed the question of whether an individual should approach society or whether society should approach the individual. With that having been said, one should not expect society to do something for an individual. Rather, one should ask oneself what he or she can contribute to society.
He also reminded them that we are living with the Aos, a tribe that is known for its good practises, culture, and warm hospitality. He illustrated this with the result of the recently conducted UPSC exam, where 3 out of 4 candidates got selected. He encouraged the union to give up the inferior mindset and to work in all aspects to keep up with the progress of society. The ENPUM celebrated its 50 years of establishment, in the year 2022.
