
Organised by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung, the 70th All India Co-Operative Week was observed under the theme “The Role of Co-Operatives in Making India $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs” at Sangtemla Multi-Purpose Hall, Mokokchung, today, November 17, 2023.
Addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour, ADC, Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, said the force in making a society strong and moving forward is through the culture of cooperation and working collectively. He said that out of the many registered societies in the district, if at least half of the registered societies are active, they would surely be a thriving force to lead the community or society to another level.
He maintained that in order to fulfil the objectives of the department, it is not only the efforts of the employees alone; the active role and participation of the community are vital. He also urged individuals as well as societies to be prompt in repaying whatever loan is availed of by the bank in order to progress collectively.
A short speech was delivered by the Dy. District Agriculture Officer, Maongsangla, and the Manager, NSCB Ltd., Mokokchung. A vote of thanks was proposed by the Asst. Registrar of Co-operative Societies (ARCS), Mokokchung, Imtionen, while the programme was chaired by Inspector, Co-operative Societies (ICS), Mokokchung, Meyilemla Pongen.
