(MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba undertake a constituency tour and have an interface with villages)

MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba

Dibuia village (Mokokchung), Dec 16: In a bid to have an interface with the electorates of the 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, the MLA and Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, undertook an intensive tour covering all the villages and units under his constituency.

The MLA was accompanied by a host of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leaders from the state, the Mokokchung Region, 29 Jangpetkong AC, Changki village council, and others. This tour is a continuation of the mega sensitization programme for different governmental programmes at Changki Village, held on November 29, 2023. After a hiatus due to the Hornbill festival, the tour continued on December 15 and ended on Saturday, December 16.

During his public meetings, the MLA and advisor, Temjenmenba, thanked the electorates and the villages under the constituency for electing him as the people’s representative to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Saying that he is boldly representing the constituency as the MLA and advisor in the present PDA government, Temjenmenba solicited the people to join hands with him in the collective endeavour to bring development to the constituency. He reiterated his election motto of ‘bringing and working for development in a mission mode’. Temjenmenba said that there are still four more years to go before they have to work together to achieve their aspirations for development. He reiterated his election pledge to bring about whatever development he can as long as he is the legislator from the constituency. He, therefore, called for unity among the people so that the developmental work could reach every nook and cranny of the constituency.

Also strongly lamenting the 29 Jangpetkong AC, even with the number of politicians, academicians, sportspersons, etc., MLA Temjenmenba said that the constituency has been reduced to a people of followers and not leaders. Therefore, he asked the people to join hands together, wholeheartedly give him advice, and support each other in the collective quest to bring a semblance of development to the constituency.

During the tour, the MLA and Advisor also handed over the completed CMHIS cards to the village councils to be distributed to the beneficiaries who were recently registered during the Beneficiary Identification Drive (BIS), sponsored by the MLA and Advisor and conducted by the NDPP 29 Jangpetkong AC.

Meanwhile, the Working President of NDPP Nagaland State, N. BendangJamir, who also spoke at the tour, congratulated the constituency for electing a dynamic leader like Temjenmenba and asserted that the MLA and advisor are much admired and appreciated in the state for their leadership qualities. He pointed out that the transport department, which was neglected for a long time, has now become one of the most vibrant departments, serving people all over the state.

On a political note, the NDPP Working President highlighted Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s initiative to take a yearly review of all the NDPP MLAs and constituencies from time to time. In this regard, N. Bendang Jamir said that a six-member committee has been formed at the party level, and a committee has also been formed from among the legislators to make this yearly review. This review will determine who gets the party ticket during the next election, said the working president.

In this connection, the NDPP Working President N. Bendang Jamir highly appreciated the MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba and the party rank and file under the constituency for undertaking different programmes during this year. He further encouraged all to continue their good works and do better in the years to come.

The NDPP Mokokchung Region President Mayangnungba, who also spoke at the programme, said that the party is a regional party with a national outlook. He pointed out that in 2018, as there was an alliance between the NDPP and the BJP, the 29 Jangpetkong AC was shared and given to the BJP. But now, the constituency was awarded the NDPP ticket, and most fortunately, a dynamic leader in the person of Temjenmenba was elected on the NDPP ticket. He pointed out that the NDPP under 29 Jangpetkong AC, under the initiative of the MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba, is taking huge steps within a short period of time, like the’sensitization programme’ and registration of beneficiaries for the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), etc. Such initiatives are in consonance with the party motto of ‘deeds, not words’ and the expressed declaration of the PDA government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of taking Nagaland ‘towards a state of excellence’.

Apart from the village council members and other leaders, President of Jangpetkong SensoMungdang (JSM) Purtoshi appealed to the party and the elected legislator to work tirelessly for the development of the Jangpetkong range. Saying that he was speaking since the MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba is the people’s representative where the villages and civil societies have to take their problems and aspirations, the JSM President appreciated the work done thus far within a year and expressed hope that the developmental work would continue in the constituency.

The President of 29 Jangpetkong AC, Aodangnok, and the NDPP Mokokchung Region Treasurer, Pangerzulu, also spoke at the programme.

The two-day tour covered Alongkima, Waromung, Dibuia, Mongchen, Chungliyimsen, and Khar villages.
