Mokokchung, 19th Feb (NN): The monthly meeting of the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held today, February 19, 2024, at the Rural Assembly Hall at Ungma village, with Advisor Water Resources and Chairman DPDB, Mokokchung, Tongpang Ozüküm, chairing the meeting.

Based on the report given by the ADC and Administrator, MMC, on the MMC shopping complex fire incident, the meeting resolved that the report given by the experts from NIT on the condition of the building be evaluated by a technical committee constituted within the district under the chairmanship of the ADC and Administrator, MMC, and a comprehensive report be submitted to the Chairman, DPDB Mokokchung, within 2 weeks for further course of action.

On the issue of the graveyard in Mokokchung, where the present land area is completely used, it was decided that DPDB would pursue the land owners for allotting more land. Further, it was suggested that MMC should come up with a policy so as to cope with the problem being faced by the citizens of the town with burial.

Regarding the dumping site, which the landowners are reluctant to continue with allowing their land, the meeting deliberated that citizens should be educated on the segregation of waste, for it was the concern of all the stakeholders. It was decided that the concerned department, while taking steps to control the damage and pollution in the area, should come up by requesting that the landowners and villagers reconsider the use of the site.

On the agenda of “Vision Mokokchung 2040”, it was resolved that members do an in-depth study, and further deliberation would be held in the coming days.

A power point presentation on Mega Job Expo 2024 was presented, the verification committee LADP 2023-24 was approved, and the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, gave a report on the participation of Mokokchung District in the Nagaland Olympic 2024.

The upgrade of Tsürangkong PHC to CHC and the registration of the Mokokchung Athletics Association were approved and forwarded.

The meeting was attended by NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer, Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, Advisor Law & Justice and Land Revenue, T.N. Manen, and Advisor IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L. Imchen.
