The office of the District Employment Exchange (Model Career Centre), National Career Service, Mokokchung has organised for the first time a one-day job fair event at the office premises on 9th Aug. 2024 to provide opportunity for the job seeker/unemployed youth of the district.
District Employment Officer, (DEO) Mokokchung T. Yimlikhumzuk, while briefing the indenting candidates, mentioned that a total of five different companies—recruiters from Longpok, Talent Acquaintance, SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd., JIO Telecom, and NSDC & Skill India—are collaborating with the department to provide around 500-600 vacancies in the mentioned companies.
DEO also categorically pointed out that, as per the record, more than 70,000 unemployed youths are registered in the state. He therefore urged the youths to take full advantage of the opportunities during such events, as the chances of securing a government job are limited. He also added that the jobs are not only confined locally, but chances of working outside the state or international destinations can be secured.
The job fair attracted more than 100 enthusiastic job seekers from various educational and professional backgrounds. Different companies shortlisted 127 candidates for employment. It is also informed that the selected candidates, after completion of all formalities, will be issued a letter for further screening.
Later, the DEO shared a vote of thanks to all the participating companies and job seekers for making the program a success.
Principal ITI, Mokokchung Imlisunep, Member of the District Skill Committee (DSC), who was also present during the program, thanked the department on behalf of the DSC for organising such an event.
