Addl. Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Chumlamo Humtsoe has informed that compensation to victims of the Hit-and-Run Motor Accident Scheme has been operationalised w.e.f. 01/04/2022; however, the scheme did not take off as expected. In this regard, the Govt. of India, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, New Delhi, has therefore solicited the cooperation of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to create wide publicity of the scheme at the grassroots level, to sensitise the officials about the scheme, assist the victims of hit-and-run cases, and to undertake an active awareness campaign at the local level through various mediums.
