1 December, 2024 (Nokinketer.in): District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) & HIV Partners observed National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) AIDS DAY at Impur Bible Seminary Hall. The program was Sponsored by NSACS. The program was held on the THEME: “TAKE THE RIGHTS PATH”.

Mr. Makshi Jamir, DPO, DAPCU, Mokokchung District, stated that World AIDS Day is a day to remember, a day to act. It’s is significant to Raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. He also additionally stated that it is a day to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS and to supports those living with HIV/AIDS. He encouraged the gathered to promote prevention, treatment, and care. He challenged everyone to unite and fight against HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Temsuwapang Jamir, President, NMP + MKG shared on his experiences as NMP+. Jamir urged the gathered to break the Silence to stop the Stigma and to create a supportive environment for people living with HIV. Educate yourself, speak out, and treat everyone with respect. HIV is not a death sentence. Access to treatment can save lives, added Jamir.

Keynote address on HIV AIDS was delivered by Mr. Yashi Jamir, CPO, Mokokchung while a Special Presentation was brought by the Impur Bible Seminary Students. Mrs. Imtilemla Longkumer, Principal, Impur Bible Seminary, delivered the word of God. The program was attended by approximately 300 attendees. DAPCU also organised a candlelight Vigil and prayer at the Chief Medical Office conference Hall, in the evening, remembering those who have died of HIV AIDS and for those living with HIV.
