
On February 24, 2025, the Mokokchung District Legal Service Authority, as per the common action plan, organised an awareness program. The event focused on the NALSA scheme for victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, launched in 2015.
Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of the Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, Smti Julian Sitlhou, played a key role in sensitising attendees to the Scheme of 2015. Also awareness on the NALSA Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme, introduced in 2024. She highlighted the establishment of Legal Services Units for Children in every district, aiming to provide accessible and supportive legal services to children and also the LSUC’s role in assisting the child victim of crimes and trafficking.
The awareness program featured an interactive session where stakeholders discussed and addressed concerns related to the scheme. Various organisations attended the event, including the Child Helpline Mokokchung, District Child Protection Unit, Women Police, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Child Welfare Committee, and the Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Mokokchung District Legal Service Authority to promoting awareness and supporting vulnerable groups, particularly children and victims of trafficking.
