Mokokchung, 16 June, 2025 (Nokinketer.in): The Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD), under the aegis of the Nagaland Basketball Association, is set to organize the first-ever Mokokchung Inter School Basketball Tournament 2025, scheduled to be held from July 10 to 12, 2025, at Mokokchung.
The tournament, being organized for the first time in the district by BAMD (earlier editions were organized by Queen Mary Higher Secondary School), will be held under the theme “Forging Future”, reflecting BAMD’s commitment to nurturing young talents and fostering the growth of basketball at the grassroots level.
The competition is open to all high schools and higher secondary schools across Mokokchung District, including institutions from Mokokchung Town, villages, subdivisions, and other parts of the district. Interested schools are hereby invited and encouraged to participate and register for the tournament.
The key objectives of the tournament include providing a platform for young students to showcase their basketball skills and talents. Encouraging healthy competition, sportsmanship, and discipline. Building friendships and fostering unity among students from various parts of the district. The program aims to create opportunities for mutual learning, exchange of ideas, and skill development among students from various parts of the district. Promoting leadership, teamwork, and personal growth through competitive sports.
BAMD will also extend coaching support by providing mentors to interested schools upon request, offering basic guidance and assistance in preparing their teams for the tournament. While lodging facilities will be arranged by the organizers for the participating teams, schools are requested to make their own arrangements for food during the tournament period.
Notably, this inaugural edition marks the beginning of what is envisioned to become an annual running trophy tournament organized by BAMD, making it a regular feature in Mokokchung’s sporting calendar. The Association aims to sustain this initiative in the years ahead, providing continuous opportunities for young players to grow and excel in the sport.
