

Mokokchung| 8th September (nokinketer.in): Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, officially unveiled the team track suits and field uniforms of Mokokchung district athletes on Sept 8 at his office. Temsuchuba, SDO (Civil), was also present at the launch.
The team was led by Rongsentoshi Jamir, President, and Imchatsung, General Secretary, along with members of Mokokchung Athletics. A total of 20 athletes, comprising 15 boys and 5 girls, have been selected to represent Mokokchung district. The contingent will depart for Kohima on Sept 9 to participate in the 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championship 2025, scheduled to be held on September 10 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.
During the launch, Ajit Kumar Verma addressed the participants and said, “You are going to represent the district that is the pride of the district.” He mentioned that Mokokchung teams have been participating in previous events and have achieved good results, with some athletes even attaining medals and representing the district at higher levels. Extending his best wishes, he told the participants, “All the best to all of you as a team, as a family. Whether you win or lose, even if you are not able to bring back medals, it is okay. What matters is that you give your best and perform well and the greater value lies in teamwork as a family and unity along with the coach, manager, and officials.
In the U-14 category, the selected athletes are: Lanutemjen Kichu and Arenlong Tzudir in Triathlon (A) along with Naromenla; Lanuroen Jamir and Sungjemmongla Jamir in Triathlon (B); and Imliwar Jamir, Tsukjenlemba Pongen and Moakala in Triathlon (C).
In the U-16 category, Imnungba (60m), Imjungsunep Pongen (600m), Sentizulu Pongen (High Jump), Imnungba (Long Jump), and Lemba Angh (Shotput) will represent the boys. For the girls, Meyijung T. Jamir will compete in both the 60m and 600m events.
In the U-18 category, the boys’ events will feature Tiasunep (100m), Toshiwapang Longkumer (200m), Lanusucha (400m), Taliimeim Jamir (1000m), Ikagho (High Jump and Long Jump), and Sentioenen Jamir (Shotput). The girls’ team will be represented by Imnasenla, who will participate in both the 100m and 200m events.
The management team for the championship will be led by Rongsentoshi Jamir, President of Mokokchung Athletics Association, who will serve as the overall in-charge. Assisting him are Team Manager Furmayang Pongener and Coach Nukshikala Jamir.
