Mokokchung, 15th January, 2026 (www.nokinketer.in): The Mini-Hornbill Extension of the Tsungkamnyo Festival was celebrated at Sangphur Village with Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports and Chairman of DPDB Shamator, S. Keoshu Yimchunger, gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The programme was also attended by Sanglipong S. Pongen, PRO to the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Government of India, and members of the Longsa Village.

In his speech, S. Keoshu Yimchunger warmly welcomed all invitees and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Longsa Village Council for travelling all the way from Mokokchung district, reflecting the deep bond of brotherhood between the two communities. He shared how the Aos entered Yimkhiung land with the message of Christianity and education, noting that the Yimkhiung people embraced Christianity through Sema and Ao missionaries. He further acknowledged the Aos as pioneers who continue to lead the Nagas as a whole. Through the joint celebration of the Tsungkamnyo Festival with the Longsa Village Council, he expressed hope that Sangphur and Longsa villages would further strengthen ties, bringing the Ao and Yimkhiung tribes closer as brothers and sisters.

Akangjungshi, Chairman of the Longsa Village Council, thanked the Sangphur Village Council for the invitation and expressed his desire for a closer relationship between the two villages. He assured that in the coming days Sangphur Village would also be invited to Ao festivals, allowing both communities to share their rich and beautiful cultural heritage while building strong bridges between the Yimkhiung and Ao tribes. He also invoked blessings for the year 2026 upon all citizens of Sangphur during the Tsungkamnyo Festival.

Sanglipong S. Panger, representing MP S. Supongmeren Jamir, conveyed brief remarks on his behalf due to the MP’s sudden health issue. He assured that the relationship between the Aos and Sangphur in particular, and the Yimkhiung community in general, would continue to grow stronger. He emphasized that while nothing material is taken after life, building good relationships and friendships creates a better society – one that reflects heaven on earth. He also shared that his association with Sangphur is longstanding and will continue to grow stronger. He assured that before the end of the tenure, he and the MP would visit Sangphur Village together.

The programme concluded successfully with cultural dances and traditional displays.
