
Mokokchung, 13th February, 2026 (www.nokinketer.in): Violence broke out at Moava Village, Chumoukedima, between members of Chakroma Organisation and Moava villagers on 13th February 2026 at around 10:30 AM.
The incident occurred due to issues related to land, and misunderstandings escalated between the two groups, which subsequently turned violent. The situation intensified as both groups engaged in stone pelting. During the course of violence, 48 people were injured from both parties, 6 vehicles were burnt down and 15 vehicles were damaged, 5 houses were burnt, 20 private houses were damaged, and 7 shops, including Moava Community Hall, were burnt down. One executive magistrate on duty and one security personnel also sustained major injuries while performing official duties.
On receiving the information, the District Administration and Security Forces rushed to the spot, and necessary measures were taken to control the situation and restore law and order to prevent any further violence.
