Mokokchung, 8th March, 2026 (www.nokinketer.in): International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Aor Kilem Conference Hall, Mokokchung. The program was organized by SANKALP: District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under Mission Shakti, Mokokchung, in collaboration with Watsü Mungdang, under the global theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.”

The theme address was delivered by Wt. Kathyinla Jamir, EAC, Aghunato, who spoke on the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.” In her speech, she emphasized the importance of collective action in ensuring equal rights and justice for women and girls, encouraging participants to continue advocating for inclusive opportunities and supportive environments where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. 

Moamenla Longkumer, District Mission Coordinator, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Mokokchung, delivered an introduction to Mission Shakti. She elaborated on the objectives and initiatives of the mission, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening mechanisms for the safety, security, and empowerment of women through integrated support systems at the district level.

The program also featured insightful sharing sessions by Dr. Sentirenla Ozukum of Sen-Bakes and Wt. Asenla, Founder of First Rain Foundation. Both speakers shared their experiences and perspectives on women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and the importance of community support in enabling women to pursue opportunities and overcome challenges.

The program was chaired by Wt. Nichet Jamir, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of commemorating International Women’s Day as a platform to recognize the contributions of women and to renew commitment toward gender equality and empowerment. The invocation was pronounced by Wt. Nungshinaro, Associate Pastor (Women), Mokokchung Compound. A recreational segment was presented by Alempang Watsü Unit, bringing vibrancy and cultural warmth to the celebration through engaging performances.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Wt. Tianaro Jamir, President, Watsü Mungdang. The event witnessed the participation of women leaders and community members, reaffirming a shared commitment to uphold the rights, dignity, and empowerment of all women and girls.
