Mokokchung, 17th March, 2026 (www.nokinketer.in): In pursuance of the standing instruction of the Election Commission of India contained vide Order No. 434/1/E502/94 MCS dated 24/10/1994 and letter No. 434/1/98/PLN-III dated 10/1/1998, the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, has designated all officers and ranks of Nagaland Police from Director General/Additional Director General/IGs/DIGs/Commissioner of Police/SPs under whose jurisdiction the assembly constituencies going for bye-election fall, and all police officers below them, including Home Guard and Village Guard, as election-related officials for the purpose of Section 28A of the Representation of People Act 1951, with effect from the date of notification for election till the completion of the bye-election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency.

The police officials, as stated above, who are involved in any way in election-related arrangements and performance of duties in connection with the conduct of the bye-election from 28-Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency are, by law, officers of the Election Commission, being deemed to be on deputation to it, and are subject to its control, superintendence, and discipline and, as such, are answerable to the Election Commission for any acts of commission or omission on their part while performing any election-related duties.
