Mokokchung, 31st March, 2026 (www.nokinketer.in): Neibodzelie Solo (Ward 11) was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), while Thenusou Sekhose (Ward 6) was elected as the Deputy Chairperson on March 30, 2026.

The election was held at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, following approval from the State Government and in accordance with the powers conferred under Sections 12(4), (5), and (6) and Section 18(1)(a) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.

Out of 19 elected councillors, 16 were present and participated in the voting process, while three were absent on health grounds. The quorum requirement under the Act was duly fulfilled. All 16 councillors present voted in favour of both candidates.

The voting process was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, B. Henok Buchem, NCS. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, RuopfükuotuoNoudi, NCS, and Dr. Riku Khutso, NCS, Extra Assistant Commissioner (Sadar), Kohima, officiated as the Returning Officer, and Assistant Returning Officer. CEO KMC, Zapuno Sophie was also present.
