In continuation of the Survival Mokokchung initiative, Kohima Ao Officer-tem Telongjem (KAOT), in collaboration with the Chief A.H. and Veterinary Office, Mokokchung, organised a Seminar on Commercial Scale Pig Farming at the Conference Hall, State Poultry Farm Mokokchung, on August 4, 2023.

The resource person, Manoj Kumar Basumatary, is the CEO, Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd., Tezpur, Assam, and Founding President, North East Progressive Pig Farmers Association.

A formal programme was held before the technical session, and Dr. Nemjemyanger Kubzari, Farm Manager, SCBF Aliba, chaired the programme. Sharing the welcome address, Dr. B.M. Sunep, CVO Mokokchung, said it is a rare opportunity for all the progressive Pig Farmers in the district to get first-hand information from a resource person with vast experience in this particular field.

KOAT members present during the programme, Nungsangwabang, Addl. Secy Planning Dept. Govt. of Nagaland (former V.P. KOAT), Dr. Kika Longkumer, Joint Director Health & Family Welfare V/P KOAT, and Mr. Senka Jamir, Joint Director Horticulture Dept. Executive member KOAT, shared that this initiative was taken up due to their concern to uplift and encourage the local farmers to carry forward their commercial venture on a greater scale with adequate technical background.

During the technical session, the resource person, while sharing his own experiences in the field, also imparted various technical aspects related to commercial pig farming and how to develop farming activities in the district.
