

Mokokchung, June 30 (Nokinketer News): Marking World No Drug Day 2026, a large-scale youth awareness rally and wellness program was held in Mokokchung on Tuesday under the theme, “Drug Abuse Prevention & Value-based Living.”
The program was organized by the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF), a sister organization of the Brahma Kumaris, in collaboration with the 12 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung.
Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, attended the event as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he stressed the need for collective efforts to combat drug abuse and flagged off the awareness rally.
Renowned senior neurologist and narcotics specialist from New Delhi, Dr. Swapan Gupta, who addressed the gathering as the guest speaker via video conference, highlighted the medical and psychological consequences of substance abuse and underscored the importance of prevention through awareness, education, and healthy living.
The rally commenced from the Assam Rifles Ground and proceeded through the main streets of Mokokchung before culminating at the Police Point near Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo. Participants carried messages promoting a drug-free society and encouraging value-based lifestyles among the youth.
The program witnessed the participation of representatives from Watsü Mungdang, Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, community leaders, students from various schools, youth organizations, and members of the Mokokchung Press Club.
