Friday, 10th July 2016 (Nokinketer News): Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday visited the Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Razha Chedema and reviewed its functioning, while interacting with doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other officials.

Addressing the gathering, the governor appreciated the dedication of the healthcare professionals in delivering quality healthcare services and commended the hospital team for making the institution a centre of healing and hope for the people of the state.

He noted that the 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital, inaugurated on March 4, 2022, was the third such hospital in the country, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting holistic and integrative healthcare. Recalling its role during the COVID-19 pandemic, Yadav said the hospital had served as Nagaland’s first designated COVID-19 Hospital, providing critical healthcare services during one of the most challenging periods.

Highlighting the importance of the AYUSH system, the governor said India’s traditional systems of medicine complemented modern healthcare by focusing on preventive care, holistic wellness and healthy living. He observed that with growing awareness of integrative healthcare, institutions such as the Integrated AYUSH Hospital had an increasingly important role in providing accessible, affordable and patient-centric healthcare.

Yadav said the review meeting provided an opportunity to assess the hospital’s achievements, understand its challenges and deliberate on measures to further strengthen its infrastructure, services and outreach. He urged all stakeholders to continue working with dedication, innovation and compassion so that the institution evolves into a model of excellence in integrated healthcare.

Congratulating the doctors, healthcare workers and staff for their services, the governor conveyed his best wishes for the hospital’s continued success in improving the health and well-being of the people.

During the review, hospital officials informed the governor that the hospital, located around 24 km from Kohima on the Phek–Meluri–Zunheboto Road, serves eight neighbouring villages and offers Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy and Homoeopathy services with a workforce of 43 staff.

They said the hospital had recorded over 10,050 OPD consultations and treated 560 in-patients up to June 2026. Besides providing free Ayurveda and Homoeopathy medicines, it offers laboratory services at nominal charges, Panchakarma therapy, naturopathy treatment, clinical yoga sessions and emergency care, particularly for road accident victims before referral to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.

Officials also highlighted the hospital’s outreach activities, including free health camps, awareness programmes in neighbouring villages, radio talks promoting the AYUSH system, and observance of events such as International Yoga Day, World Homoeopathy Day, International Ayurveda Day, Doctors’ Day, International Nurses Day and World Environment Day.

The governor was also briefed on the hospital’s academic and training activities, including yoga instructor training, medicinal plant workshops, Prakriti assessments for security personnel, educational exposure visits and internship programmes for students.

Appreciating the efforts of the doctors, nurses and staff in promoting holistic healthcare and the AYUSH system in Nagaland, Yadav encouraged the hospital to strengthen public outreach, improve healthcare delivery and expand access to quality AYUSH services across the state.
