Mokokchung, Thursday, 21st May 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the conduct of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in a phased manner across 16 States and three Union Territories, including Nagaland.

According to the schedule notified by the Commission, the qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026.

As per the notified program, preparation, training and printing activities will be carried out from August 5 to August 14, 2026. House-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be conducted from August 16 to September 14, 2026, while rationalization of polling stations is to be completed by September 14, 2026.

The draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, 2026, followed by the period for filing claims and objections from September 20 to October 20, 2026. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue till November 18, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on November 22, 2026.

The Special Intensive Revision is aimed at ensuring the purity and accuracy of the Electoral Roll through active participation of electors, political parties and election officials. During the revision process, BLOs will undertake house-to-house verification and collect relevant electoral information.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has appealed to all eligible electors to extend full cooperation to BLOs during the verification process and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and updated.

Recognized political parties have also been requested to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for every polling station to facilitate smooth and transparent conduct of the revision exercise with active participation.
