Board of administrators constituted for Mokokchung principal market yard

Mokokchung, 18^th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has constituted a Board of Administrators to oversee the management of the Principal Market Yard, Mokokchung, until a regular Market Committee is constituted.

The decision has been taken in accordance with the provisions of the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act, 2020, to ensure the smooth functioning and administration of the market.

According to the notification, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, will serve as the Convenor-cum-Chief Administrator of the Board, while District Agriculture Officer, Dr. Lanunochetla, has been appointed as the Co-Convenor.

Other members of the Board include I. Panger Longkumer (Chairman, APMC Mokokchung), Temjenmenla (District Horticulture Officer), Dr. Tiachuba Jamir (Chief Veterinary Officer), T. Tatong Longchar (District Fishery Officer), Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung, Asang Aier, Kilangtoshi, Suputoshi, Akangmeren, L. Yanger, and Nukshi.

The Board has been entrusted with exercising all powers and performing the duties vested in the First Market Committee under the Act. Its responsibilities include ensuring the proper management and administration of the Principal Market Yard, regulating marketing activities within the notified market area, maintaining records, accounts and assets of the Market Committee, and recommending measures to strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure.

The notification further stated that the Board will function under the overall supervision and control of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (HQ), Mokokchung, and is required to submit monthly or quarterly progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner for review.
