Mokokchung, 18th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Fazl Ali College (FAC) Mokokchung welcomed its newest batch of students, the Class of 2026, with a Freshers’ Day programme under the theme “Chasing Dreams” at the College Auditorium on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, principal, Dr. I. Wati Imchen, described the students’ entry into college as the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in their lives. He said they were not merely entering college to earn a degree but stepping into a launchpad for their future where they could pursue their passions and discover their purpose.

Emphasising that the purpose of higher education extends beyond academic qualifications, Dr. Imchen encouraged the freshers to actively participate in campus life. He said purpose is rarely discovered by simply attending classes, but through action, curiosity and engagement. While classrooms provide knowledge, he added, campus life builds resilience, confidence and character.

FAC Students’ Union (FACSU) general secretary, Imdangmeren, reminded the freshers that they were not expected to have their lives fully planned at the start of college. He said students may enter with one dream, discover new aspirations along the way, or realise that their initial ambitions may evolve over time. He urged them to remain open to new opportunities and experiences throughout their college journey.

Speaking on behalf of the freshers, Molongnen Longkumer (B. Sc 1st Semester) expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to the new students and said the occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in their academic lives.

The programme also featured the Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2026 contest during the informal session, comprising ethnic, casual, formal and question rounds. Molupong Longkumer of the Department of English was crowned Mr. Fresher 2026, while Langmai Khumla of the Department of History won the title of Ms. Fresher 2026.
