Kohima, 20th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) clinched one silver and one bronze medal at the 5th India Taekwondo National Championship 2026 held in Pune, Maharashtra, from August 16 to 21.

The State was represented by four players in the Cadet Boys category. Sudeh Lamliu won the silver medal in the Under-33 kg category, while Rishi Doimary claimed the bronze medal in the Under-45 kg category.

According to NTA, Sudeh received a first-round bye before defeating opponents from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana to enter the final. He, however, went down to his Mizoram opponent in the title clash to settle for the silver medal.

Rishi also began his campaign with a first-round bye and registered victories over competitors from Puducherry and Rajasthan before losing to the representative from Dadra and Nagar Haveli in the semifinal to finish with the bronze medal.

Congratulating the medal winners, the association also commended all four cadet players for representing Nagaland with dedication, discipline and sportsmanship.

NTA expressed gratitude to director, Youth Resources and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose, and the officers and staff of the department for their continued support towards the promotion and development of taekwondo in the State.

The association also acknowledged the Nagaland Police for permitting team coach Seyievili Angami to accompany the contingent. It further thanked Grand Master Lee Jeong Hee, Korea Dispatch Coach to India and Senior Director of India Taekwondo, for his guidance and support.

NTA also appreciated its president, Master Pele Khezhie, for his leadership and continued support towards the development of taekwondo in Nagaland.

The Nagaland contingent was led by team manager T. Alem Aier and team coach Seyievili Angami.
