Mokokchung, 1st October 2026 (Nokinketer News): Emphasising that a single blood donation can make the difference between life and death, the Mokokchung District Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MDVBDA) and Blood Centre, IMDH, called for greater public participation in voluntary blood donation.

The call was made during the observance of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (NVBDD) at the IMDH Conference Hall here on Thursday, under the theme “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”

SDO (Civil) Mokokchung, Ajay Moktan, IAS, attended the programme as chief guest, while Chief Medical Officer of 1st Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, Dr. Lakshing Chemdok, was the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, MDVBDA president Adv. Molo Jamir spoke on the importance of voluntary blood donation and stressed the humanitarian value of donating blood to patients in need. The observance sought to reinforce the message that maintaining an adequate and reliable blood supply requires sustained participation from voluntary donors.

Two donors, Akangnungsang Jamir and Onen Lemtur, shared their experiences of voluntary blood donation, offering personal perspectives on the significance of donating blood.

The programme was chaired by Ajungla Longchar, while IMDH Chaplain Wabang Longchar invoked God’s blessing. Sentijungla of Jubilee Memorial College presented the song “Rescue.”

The observance concluded with a voluntary blood donation drive, allowing participants to translate the day’s message into action.

The event underscored the continuing need to encourage a stronger culture of voluntary blood donation in the district, particularly to ensure timely availability of blood for patients during medical emergencies.
