Mokokchung, 8th October 2026 (NokinketerNews): The Ao Senden has accepted the retraction issued by Lt. Gen. V.S. Atem, VC, AEM (Retd), Deputy Ato Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, and Rh. Raising, NC, Special Emissary to the Collective Leadership, NSCN/GPRN, over their statements against Dr. S.C. Jamir made on September 16, 2026.
In a statement signed by Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong and general secretary Imtipokyim, the Senden said it had received a formal retraction declaration signed by both leaders, stating that their comments were not intended to hurt the sentiments of the Ao Senden and had been withdrawn.
The development followed deliberations between the Ao Senden and a delegation appointed by the NSCN (IM) on October 3. During the meeting, the delegation expressed regret over the remarks. The Ao Senden, however, made it clear that the statements had to be retracted by the individual leaders who had made them.
The Ao Senden said Naga leaders should uphold the values of discipline, fortitude, humility and wisdom, and appealed to all concerned to move forward in the spirit of unity and mutual respect.
It further asserted that no individual or group has the right to deny any Naga citizen a legitimate voice in Naga affairs.
While stating that it would remain vigilant and reserve the right to take appropriate action if necessary, the Ao Senden appealed that any action or statement that could infringe upon the rights and dignity of Naga citizens should be avoided in the larger interest of the Naga people.
