18th May, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The State Election Commission (SEC), Nagaland, has informed that it received a copy of the Election Commission of India (ECI) Order No. 56/06/2026/PPS-II dated May 4, 2026, recognizing the merger of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) with the Naga People’s Front (NPF). The merger was based on the decision taken during a meeting held on October 18, 2025, following which the NDPP ceased to exist as a separate political party.

In this regard, the SEC stated that the names of NDPP candidates who were declared elected in the 2024 General Election to the Municipal and Town Councils had earlier been notified and published in the Nagaland Gazette (Extraordinary) through Notification No. SEC/ELE-RESULT/2024/279 dated July 1, 2024.

Consequently, exercising powers under Section 31(1) read with Section 44 of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, the Commission has ordered that the party name “NDPP” against each corresponding elected member in the Gazette shall stand amended as “NPF” for all practical purposes in the concerned municipalities. The amendment will take effect from the date of publication in the Nagaland Gazette.
