Wednesday, May 27, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Government of Nagaland has issued detailed guidelines for Self-Enumeration under Phase-I of Census 2027, which will be conducted from June 16 to 30, 2026.

The directives were issued in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 8(ii)(b) and (vii) of the Census Rules, 1990, framed under the Census Act, 1948, in line with the Government’s Digital India initiative.

The government has strongly encouraged officials of various departments as well as the general public to complete the Self-Enumeration process accurately during the notified 15-day period.

According to the notification, Self-Enumeration (SE) allows residents to fill and submit household details online before the commencement of House-to-House House listing Operations by enumerators. The online process is expected to take around 15 to 20 minutes, after which a unique Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) will be generated upon successful submission.

Residents can access the portal through Census Self-Enumeration Portal by selecting Nagaland from the dropdown menu and completing the registration process. Users are advised to use a laptop or desktop for better visibility while marking their residence location on the digital map.

The process includes registration of the head of household, mobile number verification through OTP, language selection, location identification on the map, and completion of the House listing and Housing Census questionnaire. Users will also have the option to preview, edit, and save the form as draft before final submission.

The notification stated that once the “Final Submit” option is selected, no further changes can be made except by the Census Enumerator during field verification. Upon successful submission, an 11-digit SE ID prefixed with “H” will be generated and sent through SMS and email, if provided.

During field visits, residents will be required to share their SE ID with the Census Enumerator for validation. If the ID matches the records available with the enumerator, the submitted data will be accepted; otherwise, the household data will be collected afresh.

The government informed that a detailed step-by-step user guide along with a flow chart has been enclosed to ensure better accuracy and smooth implementation of the Self-Enumeration process.
