Wednesday, May 27, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Inter School Pre-Subroto Cup International Football Tournament Zone-2 for U-17 Boys and Girls commenced at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on 27th May 2026. The Department of Youth Resources & Sports, in collaboration with the Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA), is organising the tournament.

The opening programme was chaired by President Chümoukedima District Football Association Sedevikho T Angami, while invocation was pronounced by Khriezotuonuo Theünuo, Sports Coach.

The District Youth Resources & Sports Officer, Chümoukedima Wutsutho, delivered the welcome and keynote address, where he stated that the tournament aims to provide a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents and foster sportsmanship, discipline, and unity among students.

He encouraged the players to compete with dedication, sincerity and respect for one another, while also appreciating the support of the Department of Youth Resources & Sports and the Chümoukedima District Football Association for successfully organising the event. He further expressed hope that the tournament would help identify promising talents who would represent Zone-2 with pride at the state-level tournament in Kohima.

SDO (C) Chümoukedima, Shreyansee Jain, IAS, attended the programme as the special guest and officially declared the tournament open and encouraged the players to uphold discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament. She urged the young athletes to give their best efforts on the field and stated that such sporting events provide an important platform for nurturing talent, building confidence and promoting unity among students from different districts. She also conveyed her best wishes to all participating teams for a successful and competitive tournament.

Altogether, 17 schools in the U-17 boys category and four schools in the U-17 girls category from Dimapur, Niuland, Peren, and Chümoukedima districts are participating in the tournament.

The finalist schools from both the U-17 Boys and Girls categories will represent Zone-2 at the State Level Inter School Pre-Subroto Cup Tournament to be held at IG Stadium, Kohima, in the month of June.
