
Monday, 1st June 2026 (Nokinketer News): In a move aimed at leveraging legislative experience for public welfare, the Chief Minister of Nagaland has appointed or re-assigned six Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) as Advisors to the Chief Minister, with immediate effect.
The appointees and their assigned departments are as follows:
- Mr. Kuzholuzo Nienu – Science & Technology
- Mr. Puthai Longon – Taxes
- Er. Picto Shohe – New & Renewable Energy
- Mr. Achumbemo Kikon – SCERT & Food Processing
- Mr. Nyusietho Nyuthe – NSDMA & Inland Waterways
- Mr. Daochier I. Imchen – Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation
According to an official notification issued by Cabinet Secretary, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, the Advisors will offer their views and suggestions on matters referred to them by the respective departments. These inputs will be considered before any issue is submitted to the concerned Minister-in-charge for a final decision.
The government clarified that the arrangement is designed to tap into the “vast and practical experience” of the MLAs for the benefit of the public.
Importantly, the Advisors will not receive any additional pay, salary, emoluments, remuneration, or perks from the state government beyond what they are normally entitled to as MLAs through the Assembly Secretariat.
