Mangmetong Village, 7th June 2016 (Nokinketer News): A thanksgiving program honoring Daochier I. Imchen, Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland, was held at Panchayat Bhavan, Mangmetong, on Saturday. The Mangmetong Village Council organized the event following his victory in the recent by-election to the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency, under Mokokchung district.

Addressing the gathering, Daochier expressed gratitude to the people of Koridang, the BJP, and election workers. Reflecting on personal hardships over the past six to seven months, he committed to serving with sincerity. He emphasized that he represents the entire Koridang constituency—not just Mangmetong village or the BJP—and invited all citizens, including those who did not vote for him, to approach him for assistance without hesitation.

Stressing realistic governance, Daochier pledged to continue the developmental work of his late father (Imkong L. Imchen) while pursuing new initiatives. He thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for entrusting him with the Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation portfolios, which he accepted with humility.

Daochier announced a program for developing youth skills with an enhanced allocation of ₹20 lakh. Around 20 youths will benefit this financial year, with up to 40 over the next two years. Applicants must propose sustainable, long-term livelihood projects.

Mangmetong Village Council Chairman Watitemjen noted that Koridang has supported a candidate from Mangmetong for the sixth time—five times for the late Imkong L. Imchen and now his son. He urged Daochier to remain humble and acknowledged that only about 18 months remain in the current Assembly term.

The program featured prayers, special songs, and speeches from representatives of various organizations and village councils that fall under 28-Koridang A/C, including BJP and NPF leaders.
