Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, has issued a clarification pursuant to Notification No. DHFW-21/FSSA/3/2023-24/261-74 dated June 2, 2026, to remove any ambiguity regarding the interpretation and implementation of the notification prohibiting the manufacture, processing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution, and sale of food products containing tobacco and/or nicotine as ingredients.

According to the clarification:

  1. The notification came into effect on June 2, 2026, and will remain in force for a period of one year, up to June 1, 2027.
  2. The prohibition applies to all food products containing tobacco and/or nicotine as ingredients.
  3. Food Safety Officials have been directed to ensure implementation of the prohibition within their respective jurisdictions in coordination with the district administration and police authorities.
