Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Government of Nagaland has notified that all applications for registration and renewal under the Nagaland Shops & Establishments Act, 1986 and the Factories Act, 1948 will henceforth be processed exclusively through the online portal of the Labour Department.

According to Notification No. LAB-1/1/2024-25 (Vol-I) dated June 8, 2026, issued by the Government of Nagaland, employers, occupiers, managers of factories, shop owners, commercial establishments, entrepreneurs, consultants and other stakeholders are required to submit applications online through the Labour Department portal at Labour Department Nagaland Portal.

The department informed that:

  • Registration and renewal applications will be accepted only through the online portal.
  • Submission of physical or manual applications has been discontinued with immediate effect.
  • All establishments and factories seeking registration, renewal, amendment or related services must apply through the prescribed digital platform.
  • Applicants should ensure that all required documents and information are uploaded correctly while submitting applications.
  • Assistance and guidance regarding the online system may be obtained from the respective District Labour Offices.

The initiative has been introduced to improve ease of doing business, enhance transparency, reduce processing time and provide convenient access to services for employers, entrepreneurs, factory owners and commercial establishments across the state.

The department has requested all concerned stakeholders to take note of the new system and extend their cooperation for the successful implementation of the online service delivery mechanism.
