
Sunday, June 28, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The National Immunization Day (NID)/Pulse Polio Program was launched at Imlong Place, Mokokchung, on Sunday, marking the start of the district’s 2026 polio immunization campaign.
Assistant Commissioner Dr. Madhavi R (IAS) inaugurated the program by administering the first polio drops of the year in the presence of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Tiasunep, District Program Officer (UIP & RCH) Dr. Limanaro, and health officials.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tiasunep urged health workers and volunteers to continue their collective efforts to keep India polio-free. He stressed the importance of ensuring that no child below five years of age is left out during the immunization drive.
The CMO also expressed gratitude to the district administration, DPRO, Indian Red Cross Society, Rotary Club Mokokchung, village and ward councils, NGOs, and allied departments for their continued support in the successful implementation of the program.
The launch program was chaired by Dr. Limanaro, DPO (UIP & RCH), while the invocation was pronounced by Mrs. Narosenla, CED, Mokokchung Town Baptist Church.
The house-to-house mop-up phase of the National Immunization Day campaign will be conducted on June 29 and 30 to ensure that every eligible child in the district receives the polio vaccine.
