New Delhi, 1st August 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Delhi Ao Senso Telongjem (DAST) celebrated Tsüngremmung, the traditional pre-harvest festival of the Ao Nagas, with cultural fervour at Barat Ghar, Jhareda Village, Delhi Cantonment, on Saturday.

Observed with prayers and thanksgiving for peace, prosperity and a bountiful harvest, the festival drew over 500 participants, including members of the Ao community, in-laws, friends and well-wishers from across the Delhi-NCR region.

The celebration was graced by Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Shri Vishwesh Negi, IFS, as the Chief Guest, and Joint Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi, Smt. Sharon Longchari, NCS, as the Guest of Honour. In their addresses, both dignitaries lauded DAST for its efforts in preserving and promoting Ao Naga culture outside Nagaland and encouraged the younger generation to remain connected to their cultural roots while contributing positively to society.

The programme featured traditional Ao folk songs, dances and cultural performances, with participants dressed in colourful traditional attire showcasing the community’s rich heritage. A community feast serving authentic Ao cuisine further strengthened the spirit of fellowship among the attendees.

A major highlight of the celebration was the Traditional Cultural Song Competition, held in the presence of Guru Sangyusang Pongener, who attended as the Guest of Honour for the cultural session. He commended the participants for their performances and emphasised the need to preserve traditional folk music and indigenous cultural heritage for future generations.

DAST said the annual celebration reflects its continued commitment to preserving the cultural identity of the Ao Naga community while fostering unity and a sense of belonging among Aos residing in the National Capital Region.
