Kohima, 28th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on Friday inaugurated the two-day Tech X Gaming Expo (TXG) 2026 at the NBCC Convention Hall, Kohima, describing it as a convergence of technology, gaming, innovation, education and the aspirations of Nagaland’s youth.
Addressing the gathering, Rio said gaming and e-sports should be viewed as emerging career avenues in fields such as race engineering, game development, data analysis, streaming and digital content creation. He highlighted the Kohima Time Trials of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, noting that it is the first time the national talent search has come to the Northeast.
The Chief Minister said technology can help Nagaland overcome geographical barriers and connect its youth with national and global opportunities. He highlighted government initiatives in GIS, drone technology, IT, e-sports, startups and artificial intelligence, including the STPI centre in Kohima, the proposed AI Centre of Excellence and the upcoming Nagaland Innovation Hub for Startups at Chumoukedima.
Rio also welcomed the proposed collaboration with Google involving an investment of over ₹100 million in school education and urged young people to explore opportunities in gaming, coding, AI, robotics, music, design, sports and entrepreneurship. Organised by the Nagaland Esports Society (NES), the two-day expo features esports tournaments, gaming competitions, cosplay, AI and digital art challenges, a 48-hour Game Jam, workshops, panel discussions, technology exhibitions and the Kohima round of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026 in collaboration with Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited. The event aims to promote gaming and technology as platforms for careers, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Kohima witnessed the F1 Sim Racing India Open Time Trials as part of the ongoing TXG Expo Nagaland 2026 at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima on 28th August 28 2026.
Professional-grade Formula 1 racing simulators have been set up at the expo, allowing attendees to experience the thrill of F1 sim racing and participate in the F1 Sim Racing India Open Time Trials free of cost. Enthusiasts interested in taking the competition further can also register for the ongoing F1 Sim Racing India Open by paying the prescribed registration fee. Participants who achieve the qualifying time will be selected for the Regional-level competition, with successful participants progressing to the National-level championship in both the junior and senior categories.
The F1 Sim Racing booth attracted a large crowd of TXG Expo attendees, including students and F1 enthusiasts, who gathered to experience the professional-grade simulators and test their driving skills.
The championship is organised by Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited, an Indian motorsport team that has participated in various racing competitions around the world. The F1 Sim Racing India Open will continue at the TXG Expo Nagaland 2026 in Kohima until August 29 2026, giving more enthusiasts an opportunity to take part in the competition and experience competitive sim racing.
The inaugural day of TXG Expo Nagaland on 28th August, 2026 at NBCC Convention Hall, Kohima featured a range of indigenous technologies and innovations, including drones, robotics and creative learning solutions.
The Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre, under the Department of Planning & Transformation, showcased various drones designed and assembled by the Centre at the Nagaland GIS stall. A hexacopter drone, which was used for vaccine delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic, was among the key attractions. The stall also featured FPV drones and a replica interceptor drone, along with a live demonstration on drone operation, showcasing their control and capabilities.
The NagaBots stall also drew attention with its display of technology-based products and innovations, including a robotic arm demonstrating sketching, drones, creative-learning toy kits, 3D-printed keychains and other accessories items.
Established in 2021, NagaBots is a technology and research enterprise specialising in robotics and coding. According to its representative, the enterprise provides training and education, research and innovation, incubation support through the NagaBots Incubation Centre and electronics supply solutions.
NagaBots also organises its annual flagship event, Techmorphosis, aimed at promoting innovation and creativity in technology. The enterprise has trained more than 5,000 students across various schools, helping them develop practical skills in STEM.
