Mokokchung launches child labour awareness drive, concludes Pan-India campaign

Mokokchung, 31^st August 2026 (Nokinketer News): The District Task Force (DTF), Mokokchung, concluded the Pan-India Rescue & Rehabilitation Campaign 4.0 on Monday after a nearly three-month-long awareness and enforcement drive aimed at eliminating child labour in the district.

Organised to mark the World Day Against Child Labour, the campaign was held from June 12 to August 31 under the theme, “Red Card to Child Labour – Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.”

The campaign focused on raising awareness about the ill effects of child labour while encouraging employers, business establishments and the community to ensure that children are protected from all forms of labour, particularly hazardous and unsafe work.

The drive began with a poster campaign and a series of sensitisation programmes targeting workers, proprietors and members of the public. Through these initiatives, the District Task Force highlighted the harmful consequences of child labour and urged employers not to engage children in any form of work.

As part of the campaign, the task force also carried out inspections, verification exercises and awareness visits to restaurants, cafés and automobile workshops. During these visits, proprietors were sensitised on child labour laws and the importance of providing children with a safe environment conducive to their education and overall development.

Officials said the campaign sought to reinforce the message that children belong in schools, not workplaces, and should be protected from exploitation, while adults should have access to safe and decent employment opportunities.

The District Task Force appealed to business owners, workers and the public to continue supporting efforts to eradicate child labour and work collectively towards safeguarding children’s rights across the district.
