Tuensang, 8th October 2026 (Nokinketer News): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited Tuensang district on October 8 and held an interactive session with government officials and civil society representatives, where he stressed inclusive development, youth participation and preservation of the region’s cultural heritage.
Yadav expressed gratitude to the people of Tuensang for their hospitality and said the visit provided an opportunity to understand the aspirations, concerns and expectations of the people firsthand.
Highlighting Tuensang’s historical significance, he said the district played an important role in the political and administrative evolution of Nagaland and remains an important centre of the cultural traditions and heritage of the Eastern Nagas.
Referring to the agreement signed on February 5, 2026, between the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Government of India and Government of Nagaland concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority, the Governor described it as a milestone for Eastern Nagaland. He expressed hope that the development would open new avenues for inclusive development, stronger institutions, improved infrastructure and greater opportunities while preserving the unity and integrity of Nagaland.
The Governor said Tuensang has significant potential in agriculture, horticulture, handloom, handicrafts, tourism, education and entrepreneurship. Better connectivity, infrastructure, technology and opportunities for young people, he said, could help the district contribute significantly to Nagaland’s economic growth.
Emphasising the role of youth, Yadav encouraged young people to acquire new skills, use technology and become active partners in the development of their communities. He also stressed that modernisation should go hand in hand with the preservation of language, customs, traditions, music and community institutions.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the District Administration, security forces, churches, civil society organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders towards peace, stability and development. He called for greater cooperation between the government and the people to ensure good governance and equitable development.
ENPO president A. Chingmak, CKS vice president Sipong Chang and USLP joint secretary T. Bendang Dhongrü also addressed the programme, which was chaired by Tuensang Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa. Presentations on departmental activities were made by the Departments of Health & Family Welfare and Rural Development.
