Mokokchung, 9th October 2026 (Nokinketer News): Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday flagged off four Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances and virtually inaugurated an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Processing Unit at Thanamir village in Kiphire district.
The initiatives were organised by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) at the Integrated Business Hub & Innovation Centre, Forest Colony, Dimapur, with support from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
The four ambulances, procured with ₹58.08 lakh in IOCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance, were allocated to Dhansiripar, Medziphema and Niuland Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Chumoukedima Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Addressing the programme, Governor Yadav said the ambulances would strengthen emergency healthcare, particularly in remote areas where difficult terrain and long distances often delay access to medical facilities. He also expressed hope that the initiative would encourage more public and private sector organisations to support development through CSR activities.
On the ACV Processing Unit at Thanamir, established under the Chief Minister’s Innovative Programme with a sanctioned amount of ₹50 lakh, the Governor said agricultural processing, packaging and marketing could help farmers earn better returns from their produce.
He stressed the need for improved storage, processing facilities, branding, logistics and market access to enable farmers to benefit from the full value chain rather than relying solely on the sale of raw produce.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and IDAN Chairman Abu Metha said IOCL had invested over ₹3.5 crore in CSR activities in Nagaland in recent years and was exploring further initiatives to address development gaps. He also acknowledged the company’s investment of over ₹300 crore in upgrading its facilities in the State.
Metha said the ACV unit was a step towards improving livelihood opportunities for farmers in remote Thanamir, where geographical challenges and limited market access continued to affect economic activities. He called for greater cooperation among the government, corporate institutions, businesses and local communities to promote inclusive growth.
In his welcome address, Additional Secretary, IDAN, Vineet Kumar, IAS, said the ambulances and processing unit were aimed at strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery, reducing post-harvest losses and promoting local entrepreneurship. He stressed that the success of the initiatives would depend on their effective utilisation, proper maintenance and continued functioning to ensure tangible benefits for the public.
The programme also featured presentations on IOCL’s CSR projects for 2026 and the ACV Processing Unit, along with the ceremonial handover of the facilities and allotted rooms at the IBH & IC.
The initiatives highlight the role of public-private partnerships in improving healthcare services and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in Nagaland.
