Mokokchung, 4th November 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that electors whose names are missing from the draft electoral rolls under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) may submit Form 6 for inclusion in the final roll, even if they were previously enrolled.
The Commission stated that submitting Form 6 in such cases would not, by itself, amount to a false declaration. It also clarified that no action under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, would be initiated merely on this ground, provided the elector is not enrolled in another constituency and the declaration complies with the law.
The clarification follows a Delhi High Court judgment dated October 14, 2026, which held that concerns over false declarations by previously enrolled electors submitting Form 6 were misplaced.
