Mokokchung, 4th November 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has revised certain procedures for registration under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), including emergency approval and registration of single-member households.
According to an Office Memorandum issued by NHPS on October 31, 2026, the provision for emergency approval under the CMHIS General Category (GC) has been discontinued. However, the emergency approval mechanism will continue to remain applicable to beneficiaries registering under the Employee and Pensioner Category (EP).
The memorandum has also introduced revised guidelines for the registration of single-member households under both CMHIS (GC) and CMHIS (EP). As per the new provisions, registration of single-member households will not ordinarily be permitted. However, exceptions may be considered where an individual is the sole member of a household, subject to the submission of an affidavit sworn before a Notary Public or Magistrate.
The affidavit must be based on a declaration issued by the Chairman of the Village Council, Ward Chairman or Gaon Bura (GB), as applicable. Applicants are required to upload the affidavit at the time of registration for verification and approval.
The revised provisions will come into effect from the date of issuance of the memorandum.
