Monday, 25th May 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, interacted with beneficiaries of the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe students during a special interactive session held under the “Janjatiya Garima Utsav” celebration at Dr. Imkongliba Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on 25th May 2026.

Addressing the gathering, the governor expressed happiness at interacting with students benefiting from the scholarship scheme and highlighted the significance of the occasion commemorating the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, who stood for courage, dignity, and justice for tribal communities.

Stating that education is the key to empowerment and progress, the governor described the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme as an important initiative supporting deserving students in pursuing higher education and achieving their aspirations. He expressed satisfaction that many students from Nagaland are benefiting from the scheme.

Encouraging the students, the governor urged them to work hard, remain disciplined, and make full use of the opportunities available to them while staying connected to the rich values and traditions of their tribal heritage.

The Governor further stated that for the vision of a developed India to become a reality, every citizen, including youngsters, doctors, engineers, technocrats, students, and people from all walks of life, must demonstrate greater excellence and dedication in the discharge of their duties. He expressed confidence that the youth of Nagaland would continue to excel and contribute positively towards transforming the nation into a fully developed India, “Viksit Bharat,” by 2047.

During the interactive session, the governor encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with discipline, character, and social responsibility. He emphasized honesty, humility, compassion, and dedication to public welfare as essential values for success in life.

Highlighting the importance of youth empowerment, the Governor stressed the need for skill development, entrepreneurship, vocational training, tourism, and agriculture-based industries to address unemployment in the state. He also underscored the importance of quality education, infrastructure development, unity, and lasting peace for the progress of Nagaland.

Motivating the students, the governor urged them to dream big, remain disciplined, work hard, and contribute positively towards society and nation-building.

The program was chaired by Sarita Yadav, IAS, Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, while the keynote address was delivered by V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS, Additional Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, and Ex-Officio Director, Department of Higher Education. I. Sino Phom, Director of the Department of Tribal Affairs, delivered the vote of thanks. Officers from the Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Department and students from various colleges attended the program.
