Mokokchung, 8th June 2026 (Nokinketer News): Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, accompanied by other distinguished guests, visited Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE) on Monday and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the state.

During the visit, the college expressed gratitude to the Minister for his continued support and commitment towards the institution’s growth and development. Since assuming office, Along has played a key role in facilitating several major initiatives for the college, including the expansion of the campus through the acquisition of additional land, sanctioning the construction of a new Academic Building, strengthening faculty positions, and enabling MCTE to be selected as a beneficiary institution under the PM-USHA Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiative.

Interacting with the Minister, MCTE Principal Dr. T. Alemla Longkumer highlighted the institution’s pressing requirements, with particular emphasis on the immediate upgradation of the college into a multidisciplinary institution. She also stressed the need for a residential hostel and faculty quarters, noting that most faculty members are posted from outside Mokokchung district.

Responding to the proposals, Along directed the Engineering Team to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the college campus. He emphasized the importance of developing master plans for all colleges across Nagaland to ensure planned and sustainable institutional growth in the coming years.

As part of the visit, Along inspected the newly constructed Academic Building and shared suggestions for the future development of the college’s infrastructure.

The visit marked another significant milestone in the continued progress of Mokokchung College of Teacher Education and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality and reach of higher education in Nagaland.
