Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the polling day has likewise been declared a paid holiday for employees of banks and financial institutions in Nagaland who are registered voters in the concerned wards.
Additionally, under Section 10 of the Nagaland Shops and Establishments Act, 1982, shops and commercial establishments in the three wards owned, managed, or operated by registered electors will remain closed during polling hours to facilitate voting.
The government further stated that, in the event of a re-poll, the date fixed by the State Election Commission will also be observed as a public holiday for the affected electors.
However, the provisions will not apply to employees whose absence from duty may cause danger or substantial loss to the establishment in which they are engaged.
