Mokokchung, 23rd June, 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Assam Rifles Outreach Drive was held at Hentry Hall, Mokokchung, on June 23, 2026 bringing together around 300 ex-servicemen (ESM) and their dependents from Mokokchung, Wokha, Kohima, Noklak, Tuensang, Dimapur and Longleng districts.

Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR), Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, attended the programme as the chief guest. The event was also attended by IGAR (North), Commanders of 6 Sector and 7 Sector Assam Rifles, along with civil dignitaries from Mokokchung district.

Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Lakhera said that although Assam Rifles personnel come from diverse backgrounds across the country, their uniform binds them together as “one tribe.” Assuring continued support to ex-servicemen and their families, he encouraged them to come forward with their grievances and concerns, stating that efforts would be made to address them.

The DGAR also highlighted various welfare schemes and government benefits available to ex-servicemen and urged them to avail the facilities. He further informed that eligible children of Assam Rifles personnel aspiring to join the force could explore opportunities available under existing provisions, including compassionate appointments.

As part of the outreach initiative, free medical and dental consultations, along with medicines, were provided to ex-servicemen and their dependents. Veer Naris, Veer Matas and gallantry award recipients were felicitated in recognition of their contributions and sacrifices.

The Assam Rifles also distributed assistive devices to needy beneficiaries, including 11 wheelchairs, six walkers, 15 walking sticks and six hearing aids. The programme concluded with an interactive session between the Assam Rifles leadership and the ex-servicemen community.
