Mokokchung, July 23 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO), Mokokchung, has informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will undertake the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, 2026 in the district with the objective of ensuring that “no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible person is included in the Electoral Roll.”
According to a press release issued in pursuance of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland’s notification dated May 15, 2026, the revision aims to update and strengthen the electoral roll by enrolling all eligible citizens while removing ineligible entries.
As per the schedule, preparation, training and printing will be carried out from August 5 to 14, followed by house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 16 to September 14. Rationalisation of polling stations will be completed by September 14, while the draft electoral roll will be published on September 20.
The period for filing claims and objections will be from September 20 to October 20, with disposal of claims and objections continuing until November 18. The final electoral roll will be published on November 22.
During the enumeration period, BLOs will visit households to verify electors and distribute Enumeration Forms (EFs) to all existing voters whose names appear in the current electoral roll. Electors have been requested to fill up the forms, affix a recent passport-sized photograph wherever required, and submit the completed forms to the BLO within the stipulated period. The DEO’s office stated that only those electors who submit the duly completed Enumeration Form will have their names included in the draft electoral roll.
During the claims and objections period, electors whose names could not be linked with the 2005 Electoral Roll but appear in the draft roll will be required to appear before the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) with the prescribed documents for verification. Eligible citizens whose names do not appear in the draft roll may also apply for enrolment during this period by submitting the required declaration and supporting documents.
The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer has appealed to all electors to extend full cooperation to BLOs during the house-to-house verification exercise.
The office has also requested Village Council Chairmen, Village Councils, Ward Chairmen, ward authorities, recognised political parties, churches, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to give wide publicity to the revision programme through public announcements, churches and other local platforms. They have also been urged to encourage households to keep recent passport-sized photographs ready and ensure that all eligible electors complete and submit their Enumeration Forms within the prescribed period.
For assistance or clarification, citizens may contact the District SIR Help Desk at 8415049315 or 7005473708, or approach their respective BLOs. Enumeration Forms can also be submitted online through the Voters’ Service Portal, where electors can view details from the 2005 Special Intensive Revision and book appointments with their respective BLOs.
