
Mokokchung, 5th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Atsungba Walling NCS and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Nodal Officer for Mokokchung and Tuensang districts, Temsuwangshi, addressed a press briefing at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday.
The briefing provided an update on the impact of multiple natural disasters triggered by incessant rainfall across various parts of Mokokchung district.
DDMA officials informed that assessment and monitoring of the affected areas had been carried out across villages and subdivisions up to August 2. Teams visited the affected locations to assess the extent of damage and extend necessary assistance to those impacted.
The officials stated that all possible measures are being undertaken to restore essential infrastructure and provide emergency relief to affected families and villages. Restoration and rehabilitation works are being carried out in close coordination with the concerned line departments.
They further informed that while several restoration works have already been completed, others remain in progress. The DDMA, in collaboration with line departments, continues to closely monitor the situation and expedite relief, restoration, and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.
