



Mokokchung, 5th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, on Wednesday convened an emergency coordination meeting with key stakeholders at the DC’s Conference Hall to review disaster preparedness and enhance preventive measures against potential natural calamities in Mokokchung town.
The meeting focused on assessing vulnerable areas in view of the ongoing rainy season and ensuring timely, coordinated responses to any disaster situation.
Stakeholders discussed locations prone to mudslides, drainage problems, and other rain-induced hazards, while exploring mitigation measures to reduce risks and protect lives and property.
As part of the preparedness drive, ward representatives have been tasked with identifying vulnerable and disaster-prone areas within their respective wards and reporting locations requiring immediate intervention to the concerned authorities.
The meeting underscored the importance of proactive disaster preparedness, early identification of risk zones, close coordination among stakeholders, and swift action to prevent avoidable loss of life and property.
