Mokokchung, 6th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): In a bid to strengthen skill development, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood opportunities, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has constituted a Sub-committee under the District Skill Committee, Mokokchung.

According to an official notification, the committee has been formed with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. The initiative aims to promote coordinated efforts among government departments, educational institutions and community organisations to enhance employment opportunities and economic self-reliance in the district.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, will serve as the Convener, while Principal of Government ITI, Mokokchung, T. Imlisunep Ao, has been appointed as the Member Secretary.

Other members include Lipokonen Jamir, Joint Director, SARS and President of Mokokchung Ao Officers Telongjem; Dr. P. Tiatemsu, Associate Professor, Fazl Ali College; President of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM); Youth Secretary of ABAM, Impur; Lanuakum, Deputy Chairperson of Mokokchung Municipal Council; a representative from Ao Lanur Telongjem; Lanusenla, Principal of ICIT, Mokokchung; Lucy Lhousineino, District Employment Officer, Mokokchung; and the SDO (C)/EAC (Development).

The committee has been entrusted with identifying district-specific skill gaps and mapping livelihood opportunities based on local economic potential. It will also promote convergence among government departments, educational institutions, industry stakeholders and community organisations to strengthen skill development initiatives.

Special emphasis will be placed on entrepreneurship, innovation and market-oriented vocational training, particularly for youth and women. The committee will also work towards preserving and promoting traditional skills, local crafts and indigenous knowledge by linking them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

To ensure effective implementation, the committee has been directed to meet at least once every month to review progress, assess local needs and recommend appropriate interventions. It will submit monthly progress reports to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.

The notification further stated that, with the approval of the Chairperson, the committee may co-opt subject experts and representatives from relevant departments as special invitees to assist in achieving its objectives.
