Mokokchung, 14th August 2026 (Nokinketer News): Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, inaugurated its new academic building on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to strengthen teacher education in Nagaland.

Higher Education and Tourism minister Temjen Imna Along inaugurated the building as the special guest in the presence of government officials, representatives of neighbouring villages, AKM officials, faculty members, staff, student teachers and invited guests. The programme began with a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Temsuwati, Pastor, MTBA.

Addressing the gathering, Along described the new academic building as a “big achievement” not only for MCTE but also for the people of Nagaland, the local community, Khensa village and the student teachers. Stressing that institutions are built on values rather than infrastructure alone, he said, “Institutions are not just the buildings that you see. Institution is the ideology of resilience that you prove again and again.”

The minister said that despite Nagaland’s relatively small population, the state must continue striving for excellence and creating opportunities for its people. He expressed hope that more intellectuals, academicians, professors and scientists would emerge from the state through sustained efforts in education.

Along also announced that a 40-bedded girls’ hostel would be constructed under the PM-USHA scheme to further strengthen the institution’s infrastructure. He emphasised that future development should focus on quality construction and the effective utilisation of available facilities.

Describing teachers as “soldiers to build the future community,” the minister urged educators to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and commitment towards shaping future generations.
