After three-year hiatus, Tune Up Channel returns with ‘No More Shot’

Mokokchung, 1^st September 2026 (Nokinketer News): Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, on Tuesday unveiled the latest music video (“No More Shot”) of Nagaland-based Synthwave/Pop-Rock band Tune Up Channel at Hotel Whispering Winds, Mokokchung.

Congratulating the band on the occasion, Verma commended its decade-long musical journey since its formation in 2015 and praised its contribution to promoting original music from Nagaland.

He said young musical groups such as Tune Up Channel play an important role in inspiring emerging artists in the district and emphasised the need for innovation in music. He noted that Mokokchung possesses immense creative potential and encouraged local musicians to continue composing original works that positively contribute to society.

Expressing hope that the music video launch would mark a new chapter for the band, the Deputy Commissioner said its continued success would bring recognition not only to the musicians but also to the district and its people.

Formed in 2015, Tune Up Channel has carved out a niche in the Indian independent music scene with its distinctive blend of retro Synthwave and 1980s-inspired Pop-Rock. The band’s sound reflects the diverse musical influences of its members while combining nostalgic elements with a contemporary musical identity.

The current lineup comprises vocalist Sentien Kichu, guitarist Temjen Lemtur, keyboardist Ayu Mongro, drummer Avizo Solo, manager Arenlong Jamir, and legal advisor Imchayanger.

Over the years, the band has earned several accolades, including the Best Nagaland Band title at the Hornbill International Contest (2015), victory at the Youth Fest Clash of Bands (2016), Best Original Song at the NSACS Life Now Beat Contest (2017), winner of the 9th NSACS Multimedia Campaign (2019), and second runner-up at the 2nd Multimedia Campaign for Northeast India held in Imphal in 2020.

Tune Up Channel has also built an impressive live performance portfolio, appearing at major festivals and sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed artists. Notable performances include the Orange Festival at Dambuk, Arunachal Pradesh, in 2016, where legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen headlined the event. The band also served as the opening act for Los Angeles-based Synthwave band The Midnight during its India tour in Mizoram and Nagaland in 2023, and headlined the Hornbill International Music Festival in 2017 and 2021.

Following a hiatus of nearly three years, Tune Up Channel has returned with renewed energy and a refreshed musical direction. The band’s comeback is marked by the release of its latest single, “No More Shot,” while work is underway on a forthcoming extended play (EP) featuring a new creative direction and the band’s new vocalist. With its signature retro-inspired sound and fresh artistic vision, Tune Up Channel aims to usher in a new chapter in its musical journey while continuing to represent Nagaland’s growing contemporary music scene.
