Kohima, 14th September 2026 (Nokinketer News): Forty-one young candidates from Nagaland have been selected for retail positions with Japanese apparel brand UNIQLO following a talent engagement and recruitment initiative facilitated by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).

The initiative, aimed at providing young people in the state with exposure to UNIQLO and career opportunities with the global apparel company, began with the UNIQLO Xperience Day on August 21. The event connected with more than 450 students from colleges and institutes across Nagaland.

The Xperience Day featured interactive sessions, a company presentation and addresses by Yuichiro Kaneko, COO of UNIQLO India, and Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN.

Through the UNIQLO Xperience Zone, students were introduced to the company’s LifeWear products, the technology behind them and its Japanese work culture. They also interacted with UNIQLO employees from the Northeast and gained insights into the company’s workplace environment, values and work-life culture.

The recruitment process that followed generated strong interest, with more than 130 candidates registering for the Hiring Day held on September 11. Over 90 candidates appeared for interviews, following which 41 were selected to join UNIQLO’s retail team.

The collaboration between IDAN and UNIQLO combined industry exposure with employment opportunities, allowing young people in Nagaland to gain first-hand knowledge of the company before pursuing careers with the global brand.
